are numerous ski slopes on Honshu within easy
reach of Tokyo but the standard of facilities
and slopes will not live up to the expectations
of a seasoned skier, a trip to Hokkaido is required.
Powder skiing on a par with anything on offer
in the European alps or American Rockies awaits
skiers in Hokkaido.
Japan's
fantastic and legendary public transport systems
means that you could be waking up in the heart
of Tokyo in the morning and being on the slopes
of Hokkaido by the afternoon or you could take
an internal flight if you prefer.

on the northern island of Hokkaido and the ski
season runs from December- April:

Niseko
A
major destination for hikers during the
summer months, Niseko tranforms into a
prime Japanese ski holiday location when
the snow falls on Yotei-zan and Niseko
Annupuri mountains.
Approximately
3 hours journey, frequent trains and buses
serve Niseko from

Sapporo throughout the winter season meaning
the trip between airport and resort is painless
and hassle free. You could of course decide
to hire your own car however road signs
can be difficult to interpret. |

An excellent destination served by over
10 resorts around 2 hours from Sapporo.

access to a variety of slopes (including

Flights
to Tokyo
A
select band of carriers fly direct to Tokyo
from the UK whilst other airlines fly a slightly
longer, but usually cheaper in direct route.
If you decide that Tokyo will be your first
stop in Japan you will then need either a Japan
Rail pass or internal flight to reach Japan's
prime skiing destinations.

No
UK originating flights fly direct to Sapporo
so you will need to make connecting flights.
