There
aren't many places within Europe that are not
within easy reach for a city break nowadays but if
you are looking for something a little more quirky
and off the beaten track than established destinations
such as Barcelona or Rome then we believe that there
are three destinations that you may not have thought
about that offer a refreshing and inspirational alternative
to what's on offer elsewhere.
The
beauty of this trip is the ease of access of each
of the individual destinations that allow the traveller
to experience three unique destinations and cultures
in one simple stress free trip. Each city is worth
a trip on its own but when you consider how close
each is to the others then you have the recipe for
a truly unique break.
Easy
connections exist between each of the cities, be it
by train, plane or automobile so you'll be able to
pack a huge amount into your week away.
Our
team of experts will be able to arrange every detail
of your personal trip itinerary right down to Visa
applications, restaurant recommendations and helipcopter
transfers so please get in touch today.

Tallinn,
Estonia
An
enchanting city with a mix of old winding cobbled
streets, medieval walls and new trendy bars
and shopping malls. The old town, Vanakinn,
is separated in two. The upper part of town
is on Troompea Hill home to Troompea Castle
and has great views across Tallinn, whilst the
lower part is the hub of the city where businesses
and restaurants are found.
The main square in the lower part of the old
town known as Raekoja plats, has some fascinating
sights including the Raeapteek - the town council
pharmacy dating back to at least 1422.

|
| For
those looking for a dose of recent history it
is well worth taking a trip to the Western shore
of Estonia to Paldiski on the Pakri Peninsular.
Here you can visit the once highly restricted
Soviet Military base now abandoned. Explore the
enormous complex where the Soviet Union used to
house its naval submarines. |

Helsinki,
Finland
An 18 minute helicopter ride or if preferred a
90 minute fast ferry from Tallinn, then you can
be in the capital of Finland. Built
around a fine harbour, Helsinki's grand classical
architecture reflects the city's significant past
and innovative modern buildings boast its current
optimism.
The
heart of the city is the thriving market on
the harbour front that is surrounded by 19th
century architecture and many open air cafes.
There are no high-rise buildings in Helsinki;
the biggest you will find is the impressive
dome of Lutheran Cathedral that makes for an
impressive backdrop.
|
|
| There
are many sights to visit by foot like the magnificent
Uspenski Cathedral or set sail on many trips to
the tranquil islands including the Island Zoo
or the must-see Suomennlinna-Sveaborg Fortress.
Porvoo is another great place to visit especially
for lovers of antiques, architecture, arts and
handcrafts and the Christmas markets in December. |

St
Petersburg, Russia
Take
the express train from Helsinki and in a couple
of hours arrive in St Petersburg a city of remarkable
grandeur that is making great progress reviving
from its communist era. It really is the up
and coming destination and is obvious why from
the moment you arrive.
One
of Europe's most beautiful cities boasts opulent
palaces, pastel painted buildings, picturesque
canals and an abundance of historical treasures.
This is definitely a city which will not disappoint
at any time of year.
|
|
| A
city tour is the best way of seeing all of the
landmarks that St Petersburg houses and either
a group or private tour can be arranged. A tour
will take you to sights including Nevsky Prospekt
- Russia's most famous street, Admiralty - St
Petersburg's naval headquarters and Mariinsky
Theatre - home of the famous Mariinsky Ballet
who produced leading ballet dancers including
Vaslav Nijinsky, Anna Pavlova. Of course a trip
to St Petersburg would not be complete without
a visit to the museum of Russian Vodka where you
will learn about the history of Russia's national
drink and most famous export before sampling a
shot or two before you leave! |
